Plan Ahead: SOS March in July in DC

Interesting essay samples and examples on:

Jack says:

This is actually fortunate timing, and pretty convenient for any of the 10,000 NEA Representative Assembly (NEA-RA) delegates wanting to participate (like moi), as the NEA-RA, also to be held in Washington, D.C., ends the day before (or two days before, at the most).

Just extend your stay a couple (or a few) more days — make your return flight for the evening of July 10th (or later)

I went to the one in late July 2011, and it was a blast. There’s was the Matt Damon speech

and then Matt getting ambushed by a privatization puppet, who then put her in her place with his pointed replies:

Unfortunately, there was some controversy that prevented a repeat of the July 2011 SOS event, which I never fully understood. One of the planners or sponsors or whatever of the July 2012 SOS event had questionable ties or something, resulting in a lot of kvetching back-and-forth, and thus, a scaled-back event that lacked 2011 SOS Rally’s impact or turnout.

However, that’s all in the past, so I recommend anyone participating, so as to bring back the magic of that late July 2011 — the events leading up to the march — modules, discussions, etc. — and the march itself.

While I’m here, I want to put in a plug for our friends in Seattle who just yesterday screened, EDUCATION, INC.”, a documentary that attacks corporate education reform (and includes Dr. Ravitch as one of the folks interviewed) :

Here’s the trailer:
